My name is Scott Cole, owner of KUNGFUTRADER.COM. I am an avid student of the financial markets, and a former (1st Degree Blackbelt) student of Pai Lum Kung Fu. I am a real estate professional and I also teach golf.
Trading used to be a big passion of mine since I first watched the movie Wall Street in the late 1980’s fresh out of the College of William and Mary. My first big trades in the commodity markets occurred in 1994 after I learned the Turtle trading system from Russell Sands. I made a small fortune that summer in the Coffee market, after a couple of frosts damaged crops in Brazil.
In 1998 I had the opportunity to work briefly as an execution trader at Brandywine Asset Management, which was run by Mike Dever. Mike was on the cutting edge of developing automated trading systems where most of the trades were executed automatically through a computer system. In the case of more sizable orders, particularly in thinly traded markets, execution traders were required to help minimize the slippage.
Since the late 1990’s, I have traded on and off in both stock and futures markets, while maintaining my commercial real estate appraisal business. Now, however, I am primarily a long term investor as I am pursuing other passions. Still, I follow the markets throughout the day, and I think you will find my insights valuable. Check out my daily blogs and I am sure you will learn something new once in a while!
